PRODUCT FEATURES
The manually operated Mackintosh Probe is a simple, robust and highly reliable tool for carrying out light dynamic probing. The compact system has been designed for mobile use and enables rapid investigation of near-surface soil layers without the need for a motorised or hydraulic drive unit. This makes the Mackintosh Probe completely independent of external power sources and allows it to be used practically anywhere. The system offers particular advantages in confined and difficult-to-access locations where larger dynamic probing rigs cannot be used or can only be deployed with considerable effort. The low weight of the individual components and the simple design allow for easy transport to the job site. The complete equipment set can be conveniently stored in a compact transport crate.
The driving energy of the Mackintosh Probe is generated manually. Using the drop weight, the probing cone is driven step by step into the ground via the probing rods. The number of blows required to achieve a defined penetration depth provides immediate information on the penetration resistance and allows conclusions to be drawn regarding soil density and changes within the penetrated soil layers. The Mackintosh Probe therefore provides a simple and practical method for the preliminary assessment of ground conditions. Probing cones with cross-sectional areas of 5 cm² and 10 cm² are available for different applications. In addition to the Mackintosh Probe itself, the scope of supply also includes the required mechanical extraction system, which allows the probing rods to be pulled out of the ground after completion of the test. Thanks to its combination of simple design, robust mechanics and complete independence from electricity, fuel or hydraulics, the Mackintosh Probe is particularly suitable for smaller ground investigations, preliminary investigations and control measurements.
